The Artist Statement

My inspiration to create my artwork comes from my spirituality, as well as, simplyloving to draw and paint. Most of my paintings reflect a spiritual perspective because of my love of Jesus Christ and being the person He allows me to be.When choosing my subjects to paint, I go wherever my artistic vision carries me. I find creative impulses that allow me to create from any and everywhere. 

Painting with pastels is my medium of choice. Painting with pastels on cloth, makes me an artist that is different from any other. All of my paintings are on canvases made by me People are amazed to know that my paintings are pastels because of the texture that the cloth gives to the brilliance of colors that are used. By using pastels, they provide immediate color and there is also no drying process as with watercolors and oils.

Because of my fascination with painting portraits, I find that by using pastels allows me to easily blend the colors that are needed for various complexions for portraits. In painting portraits with pastels, I am able to see beyond the portrait and paint as if the picture were alive.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing the satisfied face of a client as they look at the finished product of the work in which they have commissioned me to do. In a word, the look is ….PRICELESS!
